Competitive Harp Festival Online 2024

Each year we run a friendly harp festival designed to be a great way to gain experience of performing and competitive playing, eat cake and make awesome friends!
Due to Covid-19 we put our festival online and were thrilled with the amazing music sent in.
We have opportunities to compete for all ages and abilities.
Anyone from anywhere around the world can apply. 
You can find a full list of classes and how to enter this year below.
You can apply from 1st November 2023 and you must enter your video
​before the deadline of 31st January 2024.

This video will then be released on Youtube on the 3rd March 2024.
The results of the competition will be released at the end of all the videos being published.
​You will receive a competition participation sheet via email as well as a chance to win some awesome prize for each category - sponsored by PoppyHarp, The Harp Studio, and Accusound Microphone Systems.

Submissions are £10 each.
You can submit as many videos to as many categories as you like but you must pay separately for each submission.

Classes

Fledgling Harpists
Pieces up to grade 2 and grade 2 inclusive.
5 minute time limit. 
These do not have to be on an exam syllabus just at the standard. Type ABRSM or Trinity harp syllabus into google for a list of examples pieces or you can take a look at our previous festival videos online. or you can email us a copy of your music at info@pooppyharp.com and we will guide you to the correct class.

Budding Harpists
(Pieces at a Grade 3-5 standard.
5 minute time limit. 
These do not have to be on an exam syllabus just at the standard. Flourishing harpists
(Pieces at a Grade 6-8 standard. 
5 minute time limit. 
These do not have to be on an exam syllabus just at the standard. The Professionals
(Any piece of any style. This class is completely musically open and you must be a professional harpist,
diploma or studying at conservatoire/university. 
8 minutes time limit.

Chamber Class
All ages and abilities welcome. 2-9 players. No conductors. Harp ensemble OR any other instrument.
9 minute time limit.

How to enter the festival.

1. Choose a catagory
2. Record a video

- each video should be recorded horizontally (see right)
- There should be only one piece performed in each video submitted
-each video should last for a maximum of 6 minutes from start to finish.
- each video should have at least head and hands in the video. Ideally the entire harp where possible
- ensure the background where possible is plain.
- announce your piece and name before you start as you would playing a performance. 
- (helpful hint! make sure to damp at the end! :) )

5. Pay the £10 submission fee per video.
