Developing your sound and tone quality with Alexander Rider
Having spent a lot of time working on French repertoire, where the music demands very subtle changes of tonal colour, I have been inspired to think about what, to me, is
one of the most essential elements of harp playing: SOUND.
This course will dive into various methods to enrich your tone and expand your sound palette. Through a blend of structured and flexible exercises, we will explore approaches to fingering and consider how our hand movements contribute to achieving a consistent sound. We will also focus on enhancing extended techniques such as glissandi and work on our harmonics. Whether you aim to refine your existing repertoire or develop tools for your improvising, working on your sonority is an excellent starting point.
