What are Pedal Harps?

Instead of a lever mechanism pedal harps have 7 pedals at the base which link with discs on the neck of the harp by an intricate mechanism that travels through the pillar of the harp. Each pedal has three positions: they can be placed into high, middle or low/flat, natural or sharp. This means that there are no limitations to which keys the harpist can play in. This harp also has the benefit of allowing the hands to play without having to alter the levers mid way through a piece as the feet can move the pedals instead. This may sound simple but controlling each hand and each leg independently of one another can be a tricky skill to master.
